Bringing originality back to the mainstream, Kid Cudi knocks one out of the park with his latest studio album Indicud. Managing to escape the mundaneness of spooky club beats, Cudi’s new album is an achievement from both lyrical and production standpoints.
An untouchable flow, matched with some of the most creative lines in the game right now help to deliver the album as a whole; or in other words Cudi knows how to rap about more than money and cars. Meanwhile, his beats (all self produced) provide a variety of styles and emotions, giving it extra depth.
Plagued by leaks unfortunately, Cudi was forced to release some of the tracks early, a common problem amongst music releases these days. Perhaps if the album had been released as whole, completely new, it might have possessed a little more “awe” value. Nevertheless Indicud stands amongst the most popular hip-hop records to drop this year, and deserves some spin time on everyone’s iPod.
