“Warm Bodies” is a modern day “Romeo and Juliet”. This paranormal romance follows the love between two unusual characters, Julie and R.
The movie is about the story of two star-crossed lovers, never destined to be together. R instantly falls for Julie when he lays eyes on her. He then decides that it would be a bad idea to bite her, making him decide to spare her. “Warm Bodies” then unfolds the story between the two and the loyalty of the lovers.
The plot development goes beyond just forbidden love, unlike “Twilight”, and it explains the story of how the post-apocalyptic zombie world is processing. It has been eight years since the disease has spread and the remaining survivors have been walled in. The characters are not just flat characters that do not change, but round characters that a relatable to the modern day human.
“Warm Bodies” not only delivers in development, but delivers on graphics too. The graphics and makeup are done to perfection and there is not one flaw, which is unnoticeable to the untrained eye.
The ‘corpses’ and ‘boneys’ are the two forms of zombies in this post-apocalyptic world, leaving humans to fend for their lives. The zombies in this movie do not fit the stereotypical type besides the hunger for the living.
In this world of ‘corpses’ and humans, the remaining race has walled themselves inside the city, protecting themselves from the unwelcome ‘corpses’. Troops are sent out to forage for food and medicine, in order to continue their life disease free. In this one instance, ‘corpses’ decide to attack a troop and kill all but two.
When R first spots Julie killing the ‘corpses’ he instantly falls in love. This fuels his decision to spare Julie and take her back with him to his 747, in which he turns out to be a bit of a hoarder. The more time Julie spends with R, the more human he becomes. Soon turning this change into a revolution, the other ‘corpses’ fend for their lives against the ‘boneys’ and search for acceptance with the human race.
“Warm Bodies” delivers on more than just the romantic comedy aspect and follows the change between two lovers to make their love work. It is more than just for viewing pleasure and leaves you emotionally happy as you exit the theater.
