Paranormal Activity 4 is none like the others, but they are all connected in a way. Each movie deals with the character Katie as the human host for the demon, but the differences between the movies are that they all have different plots and there is always something new. This horror movie works because it gives you the chills till the very end.
It has your usual daily life in the plot, but with an unexpected twist. If people haven’t seen the first Paranormal Activity, then they will never get what’s going on.
In the beginning it gives a little flashback from the second movie of when Katie (Katie Featherston) steals her nephew Hunter and they disappear, that leads into the present year of 2011 where they show a nice family at a soccer game. The family starts seeing this little boy everywhere they look and start getting freaked out about it. One night, the family here the ambulance at the little boys house, which is when the family has the little boy stay over at their home for awhile. The little boy named Robbie (Brady Allen) has this imaginary friend, but little does the family know that that friend is really the demon. Meanwhile, the teenage daughter Alex (Kathryn Newton) and her boyfriend Ben (Matt Shively) do these video chats at night, but Alex does not know that “his computer” records all of the video chats. Ben captures Robbie on video while he watches Alex sleep and once Ben shows Alex the video, she gets freaked out and activates each camera on every lap top to get proof for her parents that Robbie is not normal. That is the moment where the horror begins and the teens find unexplainable evidence that Robbie is everything but normal.
The scenes in the very first hour are not as scary as the next. Most scares in the first part is the family cat jumping from place to place and Robbie talking to his “friend”.
In the second hour is when things really begin to heat up. Things are crashing and making loud noises. The most famous scene is when the family’s little boy Wyatt (Aiden Lovekamp) is in the bathtub. It is suggested not to leave your seat during this scene, for it is the most indescribable scene in the movie.
Katie Featherston who made an excellent movie come to life with her incredible haunting skills and her talent of being freaky.
Ironically, the reactions from the audience was screams and everyone laughing after the scream because sometimes they would be screaming about the cat. The movie had a lot of suspense that no one knew what was going to happen next and when it did happen, everyone would be all jumpy. Also, a bunch of people in the movie would pop out of nowhere which would freak out everyone.
The movie is exactly what thrill seekers want to see, especially the ending.
