Choose your adventure: A day in Scottsdale

If you want a unique way to spend the day, heading to Scottsdale is a great option. There is a one of a kind butterfly interactive experience and the biggest indoor shopping center in Arizona. A day trip to Scottsdale is quick and cheap due to the ease of transportation, with the drive only taking 30-35 minutes.

When preparing for the trip there are a few necessities that must be packed. Due to the high temperatures in the Valley, appropriate summer clothes must be worn. It is always important to pack water and sunglasses as well. Wear comfortable shoes to prepare for the upcoming walk.

To start off the day, a variety of breakfast restaurants are all in close proximity. The Breakfast Club offers different types of food from biscuits and gravy to avocado toast ,while the Original Pancake House will satisfy you with the classic pancake. If you are looking for a quick grab and go, Press Coffee serves coffee and pastries.

After fueling up on breakfast, travel down the road to Scottsdale Fashion Square, to experience three levels of shops. From Macy’s to Louis Vuitton, the mall provides options for all people. On the lower level of the mall, near the food court, there is an interactive art museum called, Scottsdale Wonderspaces. Tickets are 20 dollars for students and allows you to spend unlimited time in the museum. Inside Wonder Spaces there are multiple rooms that have either interactive art pieces or rooms that provide the perfect opportunity for a picture. At the end of this exhibit “thank you” is plastered on large plastic grocery bags.

Once lunchtime rolls around there are many options within the mall. The Yard House, a sports grill with classic bar food, or Kona Grill which offers a more tasteful meal, like sushi and steak. In a more casual way, the mall’s food court offers Chick-fil-a, Five Guys, Panda Express and many other fast food franchises.

The rest of the afternoon can be spent just across the 101 at Butterfly Wonderland Arizona. Butterfly Wonderland offers a close interaction with butterflies. This would be perfect for a date or trip with friends. Each ticket costs 25 dollars and allows all day re-entrance.

The butterfly exhibit is located on the Arizona Boardwalk, leaving options for dinner. The restaurants on the boardwalk are casual including Johnny Rockets, Pangea Grill and Dad’s Pizza Co. Johnny Rockets serves burgers and milkshakes while Dad’s Pizza Co. offers Italian food. After eating, the fun can still continue.

Even with a jam-packed day, it is possible to make it home before eight. Scottsdale offers plenty of activities in a reasonable price range that will keep you busy.
