Girls Tennis team prepares for the new season
Spring is now coming up and track season is rising, the teams have been decided for Freshmen, JV and Varsity. The girls varsity and JV tennis coach, Keith Castillo, whos also a math teacher in room F107 and use to coach football before switching to track.
The players for the season, like Bella Taylor, Taylor Merrill, and Mira Johns and many more are players that went through try outs and will be having a game at 3:30 April 4 going against Casteel Highschool, a home game.
The girls tennis team has won awards in the past for their wins at games and strong performances, one is the Kiwanis Invite, which was won by Emma Kaufman and Taylor Merrill made to quarterfinals while Lily Hindes made third in singles consolation bracket, Maci Clonts and Hailey Hunt took fourth. Players also like Briana Ballard and Lucy Hunter are also ones to look for which have been upgrading their play.
Last years roster lost 9 games out of 14, by a few close numbers like 3-6 against Chaparral and Liberty highschools. Now for this season, the teams going in 5-6 division and playing division one premieres with a 2-3 section. The team have won 3 out of 11 games so far.
The doubles have 3 different groups for this season, Emma Kaufman and Kiera Norby,
Mira Johns and Bella Taylor, and Lily Hindes and Mady Sloan are the set up alignments/groups. This season for the players is looking good with how much practice and dedication each player counties to hold and carry out on the field during their events and games.
