On Nov. 19 & 20, Perry’s dance department showcased their “Words That Inspire” dance concert.

Parents bustled, talking excitedly amongst themselves and just 20 minutes before the show the PHS auditorium was packed. Among the crowd were eager grannies, proud parents and younger siblings, and smiling boyfriends with flowers in hand.

Everyone seemed eager for the show to begin. In the final seconds before 7 p.m., the lights dimmed and the crowd roared with excitement, anticipating the first dance.

The show included 16 original pieces, each with an uplifting message. “Chain Reaction” was my personal favorite out of all the pieces. I loved the simplicity of the costumes and the dance was very well put together.

After each dance the lights went out and when the auditorium lit back up, the dancers of the piece all bowed. That was kind of annoying and it took up quite a bit of time. It would have been better if they all just did their bows at the end of the curtain call but was not too much of a problem.

All in all, the dancers did a wonderful job and the work that they put into the show definitely shined through in every single dance. From the lighting to the costumes, every single thing just seemed to be well thought out.
