Upcoming March movies released in time for spring break

Before I Fall

Nearly all the best movies come from books; “Before I Fall,” a novel by Lauren Oliver, is no different. The story is told through the eyes of popular high school senior, Sam, played by Zoey Deutch. She wakes up on Feb. 12 to an excitable school holiday. However, the day ends in a tragic twist, forcing her into a mysterious time loop causing her to relive that day over and over. Deutch does everything in her power to alter her fate but no matter how her days differ she is always met with the same horrific ending. “Before I Fall” is PG13 and in theaters March 3. 

Table 19 

For anyone who has been invited to a wedding with little to no relations to the bride and groom, “Table 19” will come as an extremely relatable and highly hilarious comedy this spring break. The always comical Anna Kendrick plays Eloise, the ex maid of honor who decides to attend her old friend’s wedding for good measure and comes to the quick realization she has been banished to the table of unwanted guests. Along with her tablemates, Lisa Kudrow and Craig Robinson the group decide to take matters into their own hands and craft the best wedding reception ever. “Table 19” is PG13  and in theaters March 3.

Kong: Skull Island 

The classic monster narrative is rewritten once more with “Kong Skull Island.” With a star-studded cast, including oscar winner Brie Larson and Golden Globe winner Tom Hiddleston, this new monster movie tells the story of Kong’s origins. The movie provides a fresh take on the classic as it derives from the “typical damsel in distress, destroy New York city” plot line. Originally sent to destroy the massive ape, Larson and Hiddleston find reason to protect him on his invaded island. This movie is sure not to disappoint with its thriller monster action. “Kong: Skull Island” is PG13 and comes to theaters March 10. 

Beauty and the Beast

“Beauty and the Beast,” the Disney live action remake most the world is highly anticipating, comes to theaters March 17. The movie is entirely based off the 1991 classic including the beloved characters and songs that crafted the original story. The Disney classic tells the story of Belle, portrayed by Emma Watson, a girl who yearns for adventure within the walls of her small town. When her father is captured by an unsuspecting price in the form of a beast, she agrees to take his place and teaches the beast how to love. This bittersweet love story is sure to captivate the hearts of all ages.

Power Rangers

90’s phenomenon “Power Rangers” is being revamped this March. A group of high school outcasts stumble upon a spaceship to discover an alien race with plans to conquer and destroy their home town -Angel Grove- as well as the world. Called upon by abnormal circumstance, this group must come to together to face the evil and save the day. This generic but classic sci-fi action movie will sure to delight all fans who grew up on the familiar thrillers of the Power Rangers. This movies is PG13 and will be released March 24.
