Advanced Women’s Choir practices for their winter concert.

Heritage Festival is an opportunity for choirs to perform against 30 other choirs across the country and Perry Choir has been invited to compete.

Junior, Rachel Chapple, is one of the fortunate choir students, who was invited to go.

When asked about what singing means to her, Chapple responded with “it makes me feel like i can express myself and it’s coming from me, making me feel talented.”
This is a huge honor for Perry Choir as only a certain number of choirs are invited to be at Heritage Festival each year. Performing at the festival is a fantastic learning experience for Perry Choir, helping them improve overall.

“I learn a lot from Heritage.” Chapple states. “Judges score us, critique us and give us advice on how to even improve our performance.”

Choirs can also listen to other performances by other schools to give them an idea of how other choirs perform and what styles and techniques they use.

Judges place choirs into either gold, silver or nothing depending on how great their score is.

“Singing is coming from me, not from something I’m playing. It makes me feel talented.” Chapple states.

This opportunity is sure to be one that is remembered by members of Perry Choir for years to come.
