Empire of Storms, published in Sept. 2016 and written by Sarah J. Maas, is the fifth book in the Throne of Glass series, but is not the last. The next book in the series is due to come out in May 2017.

The story continues to journey through Celaena Sardothien’s life after coming to terms with her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Crowned Princess of Terrasen. Aelin travels the continent in search of allies to build an army against King Erawan’s growing dark forces, while also trying to suppress memories from her past.

Her recurring variety of memories cause her to feel alone, but she is accompanied by several close friends. Her boyfriend, Rowan, is always at her side there to protect Aelin in all her flaming glory. Aedion, Aelin’s cousin, attempts to be the courageous captain for Aelin, but at times his arrogance overpowers obedience. Lysandra, Aelin’s trusty shape-shifter, knows that Aelin’s requests are for the good of her people and obeys promptly.

Manon, as wingleader, is ordered to aid the other ironteeth witches in sieging Rifthold and dragging King Dorian back to Morath, the stronghold for Erawan the Lord of the dark. Due to the mark Aelin left on her heart after sparing her life, she decides to save Dorian’s life in return, but is punished and receives a drastic piece of information when she returns.

Elide is in search of her queen, Aelin, and Celaena who, to her are two different people. She is in the process of hiking through the woods after Manon drops her off when she can feel another presence. Elide is confronted with a choice: travel with Lorcan, who could kill her, or have her uncle’s ugly flying freaks carry her back to her prison, where she would most definitely die. She chooses Lorcan, but at what cost?

The story keeps the the reader on the edge of their seat as the perspective and scene switches between Aelin, Manon, and Elide on their risky adventures. The reader will cling to the story until Aelin’s adventures are continued in the sixth and final book of the series.
